COK Wins a VegNews Veggie Award!
COK is honored to have been selected by VegNews magazine as the Organization Most Deserving of Your Year-End Donation!
“With an annual budget of only $400,000 and just four paid staffers, COK’s long list of successful campaigns—most notably taking on the egg industry for deceptive labeling—put many larger 501(c)(3)’s efforts to shame.”

As a grassroots organization, COK understands the need to make every dollar go as far as possible. We’ve grown substantially from very modest beginnings in 1995—at the time with no paid staff, no office space, and an annual budget of $50—and it’s only because of the generosity of our countless supporters that we’ve been able to make such strides in helping farmed animals.
COK Anniversary Party Celebrates Ten Years of Advocacy
In December 2005, nearly 300 people gathered at the Kathleen Ewing Gallery in Washington, D.C., with their invitations designed by BIZARRO creator and animal advocate Dan Piraro in hand, to celebrate COK’s tenth anniversary. The memorable evening included an array of delicious vegan food and drink donated by dozens of area businesses, a scrumptious cake by Sticky Fingers Bakery, as well as a fantastic silent auction filled with vegan treats, clothes, gift certificates, artwork by Peter Max, gift certificates for leather-free accessories from MooShoes, an original comic sketch by Dan Piraro, and more. The evening’s highlight came with the screening of a moving and inspiring video produced by COK’s president Steve Cucolo commemorating our first ten years of compassionate action for animals. (Our “COK is Ten!” DVD is available for a limited time!)
Thanks to everyone who has been such vital members of COK’s family for the last decade!
